apparently neither my external soundcard or the VariOS like to be on a USB hub. this is a problem as i only have 2 USB ports on my laptop. the only possible solution i can think of is to buy a pcmcia USB card, move my current USB hub to the card and plug the two devices directly into the ports on the computer... i found something i think will do the trick on ebay so i think i'll order one pretty soon.
apart from that little snag i just need to build two more patch cables (for which i already have the parts lying around here somewhere) and the new box will be fully wired up and integrated into the studio! then it's just a matter of mapping all the controls on my controller keyboard and i can actually use this thing to make some freaking music!
