i found a really great essay written on the topic of player vs player conflict in World of Warcraft. it goes into detail regarding the nature of conflict, how it arises in the real world, and how this has been mirrored in this online community. in particular it investigates the role communication, or lack thereof, plays in instigating and magnifying conflict.
