claiming my 'free' time back

WHACK!

what was that you ask? that was the sound of me visciously karate chopping my life back into gear. at this point you're probably all "wtf is he on?" and i don't blame you. i haven't been posting for ages and i haven't been working on tunes at all. why? i don't know, a lot of reasons... but i'm determined to claim back some direction in my life.

so: late new years resolution or whatever you want to call it. i'm going to dedicate this year to getting back to the point where working on music and creating things that people enjoy is the main focus of my life.

as a starting point, a 'gesture of good faith' to, uh... myself, i have cancelled my subscription to world of warcraft. i'm not saying that was the root of the problem or that not playing video games (as much) is going to get me back on track to doing something meaningful with my life. but hey, it's a start.

in other, even more awesome news: i finally tracked down a Roland VariOS on ebay for a decent price. this is a piece of gear i've been lusting over for years (since i first saw one at the Harris Institute). basically, it emulates 3 of the most popular Roland synths (Juno, Jupiter, and 303). anyone who has ever been into electronic music would recognize those synths if they heard them. in addition it does some of the most unique realtime sample manipulation out of any device i have come across. translation: it does the Daft Punk robot voice and tons of other cool shit.

so yeah, exciting things a gwan in my home studio. i'm working on a new tune with Gobs the Zombie, and a few of my own projects... should be interesting to see where my creativity takes me over the next few months.
