the search continues

all i want is a region free dvd player that also plays mpeg and divx. is that too much to ask? apparently it is...

in the uk you can buy them from any electronics store. hell you can buy them from that sketchy electronics store underneath the train bridge (uk peeps will know what i'm talking about here). in canada apparently we have "laws" that "prohibit" the importing of multi-region dvd players. this is unacceptable.

apparently most dvd players are capable of playing any region (as far as i know there is no difference in hardware) it's simply the firmware that needs to be modified. in some settings there is no software upgrade required, you simply need to know the code to unlock the menu settings you want. i'm currently in the process of finding just such a dvd player.
