a ha!
last night i finally had a chance to sit down and work out the details on all the compression codecs we'll be using for our upcoming visuals gig. as always, determining the correct codec (and various sub-settings thereof) was much more time consuming than actually setting up the compressor and outputting the clips. good news however (without getting into the gory details) it was a lot less complicated than i thought. turns out the optimal codec for our new software is only marginally different from our old software, for which i still had a preset saved. so i've modified the batch settings on the compressor and carole is going to format and export all the clips today.
i've still got a ton of flash animation i want to do before the show to boost our content library, particularly in the "halloween themed" department. getting back into 2D animation has been a frustrating process, mainly because my aspirations exceed my abilities and i'm too impatient to take "baby steps" towards proficiency. i have, however, finally conceded defeat and have resorted to reading a "flash for dummies" type manual. unfortunately the book that i have is designed for use with Flash MX 2004 and the software i have is the 2008 model which is frustrating when you are looking for a feature and it's either moved or named differently. the good news is that i'll most likely have a short demo clip up by the end of this weekend (i know, i know, i've been saying that for the last week). this time i'm serious. like, steven segal serious.
