just got back from our departmental meeting. apparently they are running a course in the next week to teach technicians how to do an endoscopy. this procedure involves sticking an optical tube in someone's butt. obviously not a procedure you would want to volunteer to let someone practice on you for the first time. so we have requested 11 simulator machines which allow trainee technicians to practice on a simulated butt. the machines come complete with a plastic ass prosthetic and apparently if you make a wrong move it will actually say "ouch".
i'm currently fighting the urge to sneak up to the 10th floor and line up all the machines with the plastic butts against the lab's viewing glass.
